08-24-2009 Weirdest Robkast A few weeks back it reported on a number of casting rumors for Ethan Maniquis and Robert Rodriguez's upcoming Machete feature film (based on the spoof Grindhouse
trailer starring Danny Trejo).
A Variety magazine source has indirectly confirmed the line-up for the
film, which sounds pretty
stellar to me. In
the midst of a piece on Overnight Productions, they casually drop word
that Machete has started shooting this week, and that "Robert De Niro,
Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech
Marin, Don Johnson and Jeff Fahey play supporting roles". I have no
idea what to
expect from this movie, and while it probably will be another
quick-and-dirty Rodriguez production, I think there's plenty of reason
to be excited.
For starters Machete was if not the funniest of the B-Movie trailers in Grindhouse,
who wouldn't wanna see Danny Trejo(Big Spanish dude with tattoos all
over his body, and scarred face) kicking some ass and getting some
chicks along the way, all while riding on a Harley. And finally he's
worked with Rodriguez before on tons of stuff and they seem to have
good chemistry. Besides, we could use a B-Movie in Hollywood, just to
remind the world how creatively good a suck movie could be.
