Hello web'ers today's movie review is of the recently released Hughes brothers film "The Book of Eli", starring The great Denzel Washington, Mila Kunis, Gary Oldman, and the Bible.
Set
in a world after the world ends, due to a war which torched the sky and
led to the sun burning the earth, Eli played by Washington is a guy who
walks the earth headed west, in order to deliver the last bible on
earth to an unknown destination, on this mission he encounters tons of
remaining humans struggling for survival and a means to continue
living. Until he comes across a small town on the brink of restarting
humanity and it's ambitious leader played by Oldman, who has been
searching for a bible to help him deliver the messages to his town in
order to help rebuild a normal civilization. Once he realizes that Eli
has such a book in his possession, he goes to great lengths to acquire
this book, like enlisting the good looks of Solara played by Kunis,
hoping she can convince Eli to turn it over or become part of the
re-development. When that doesn't work all hell breaks loose as Oldman
unleashes all his henchmen to go after Eli and the bible, but with
unsuspected help from Kunis, Eli fights back and continues on his quest
to deliver the bible to the rightful final place where it should be
valued.
This film turned out to be very biblical and somewhat
prophetic, the depiction of the importance of the bible had never been
portrayed better than in this movie. Rebuilding a civilization truly
depended on the power of the words in that book. I enjoyed the movie
greatly, of course I'm bias because Denzel is my favorite actor of all
time but this film delivered on all cylinders. I recommend this movie
for all.
