01-27-2010 Weirdest Robkast Our movie review for today is about the film "Legion", which we previewed on the site some time last year. In the supernatural action thriller "Legion",
a diner
becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race.
When God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring
on the Apocalypse. Humanity's only hope lies with a group of strangers
and the Archangel Michael played by Paul Bettany who decides to not
give up his faith in mankind and help them fight off the apocalypse, at
least until the prophetic baby is born to carrying mother played by
Adrianne Palicki.
The
plot was simple: A group of people(Family of three, manager, his son,
waitress, cook, and a stranger) hold up in this diner with the help of
Michael(The fallen Angel), trying to stop hordes of Angels from taking
Charlie the waitress(who's unborn baby is the key to mankind's
survival). The conflict was simple: God would come at you three ways to
get to the baby, first by testing your strength, second by testing your
weakness, third by sending his own Archangel Gabriel. The resolution
was not so simple: After the baby was born, no angel could come close
to the prophetic child, but yet even after a fight to the death between
Gabriel and Michael, Gabriel still intends to go after the baby in
effort to kill it, and from then on the guardians must protect the
child for the rest of his life.
If
this synopsis has confused you or turned you off to this film, you and
I are in the same boat. I had high expectations for this film and it
utterly disappointed me, it drew you in with one premise and then blew
you away with the conclusion. If you like movies with more talk then a
soap opera, then go see "Legion".
The action was bland and the acting was too, character flaws and plot
holes are visible at every turn, even with such actors as Paul Bettany,
Lucas Black, Tyrese, Charles s. Dutton, and Dennis Quaid. Watch this at
your own risk.
