7-25-2010 WeirdestRobkast This week's movie review is of the new Angelina Jolie flick, "Salt". The campaign slogan for this film is advertised as so "Who Is Salt"
and the answer is: One bad ass chick. In a summer filled with lame
repetitive type films Salt gives you exactly what you need, which is a
release from the norm. Salt is about action, action, and more action.
With about 30 minutes of actual dialogue and 60 minutes of guns, stunts,
stabbings, and explosions, this movie is aimed at your adrenaline based
mind. With a plot that isn't as strong as it could be, who cares when
Jolie is on film taking apart whole divisions of the C.I.A. and Secret
Service. The film delivers on all levels and its short, sweet, and fun.
Review: Inception
7-17-2010 WeirdestRobkast On July 16, 2010 famed director Christopher
Nolan's highly acclaimed film "Inception" premiered to the world
and I must say, it was definitely a tour de force film. Nolan is the
great director behind reviving the Batman Franchise, but he has not had
an original concept movie idea since his breakout film "Memento".
To say the least Inception is a film based on dreams and how the
mind works while inside them. The characters in the film are trained
dream stealers who invade your mind and take from it the ideas that
dreams are made from. Now I know what your thinking, wtf, right? But
this concept of dream and reality makes life what it is, and once those
two worlds collide and the confusion between dream and reality hit you,
that's when inception kicks in. The film centers around our main
character played by Leonardo DiCaprio, the best inception agent on
earth, he and his team must enter a concept into the mind of an heir so
that they may force him to change his plans on what to do with his stake
in his late father's company. This all seems like a normal job to the
team, except one of the characters has a problem, their sub-conscience
is having a feud and it is causing complications while inside the dream
world. This eventual problem is the focus of the film because it is also
the sub-plot and eventual theme behind the movie.
WARNING
WARNING WARNING: THIS FILM IS NOT FOR YOU LAZY MOVIE WATCHERS, THIS FILM
REQUIRES TONS OF BRAIN CAPACITY AND ATTENTIVE FOCUS, YES THIS FILM IS
AWESOME AND UNIQUE BUT IT ALSO WILL LEAVE YOU WITH A HEADACHE IF YOU
CANNOT COMPREHEND COMPLEX FRACTIONS. WHILE WATCHING THIS FILM IN THE
THEATERS I ENCOUNTERED A MAN WHO SIMPLY GOT UP FROM HIS SEAT AND LEFT
THE THEATER BECAUSE, TO QUOTE HIM "IS THE MOVIE SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT
DREAMS OR REALITY, I JUST DON'T GET IT, MY HEAD IS SPINNING RIGHT NOW". SO
PREPARE YOURSELF FOR A FILM THAT WILL HAVE YOU THINKING ABOUT EVERY
DETAIL FROM BEGINNING TO END. ENJOY.
Review: Predators
7-14-2010 WeirdestRobkast This week's movie review is of the newest
version of the 1987 classic "Predators", and it stars Adrien
Brody, Alice Braga, and Laurence Fishburne. There have been three
predator related films since the original and I'd have to say that hands
down this one was as close as you could get to a sequel, it even made
reference to the original film. Putting the best trained killers in the
jungle and having them fend for their lives against the greatest hunter
ever, was truly entertaining. Brody assumed the Arnold role as lead
soldier and he played it well. The introduction of predator canines were
an interesting new thing included in this film, and the fact that for
the first time the film wasn't based on Earth, yet it was a game
preserve on a planet that had similar qualities to Earth, perfect for
the hunters to hunt their prey whenever and however they wanted.
Review: Grown Ups
7-02-2010 WeirdestRobkast Today's movie review is of the buddy comedy
"Grown Up's", this film stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock,
David Spade, Rob Schneider, and Selma Hayek. Its been 30 years since
they won the junior high school basketball championship, and life long
buddies must reunite to remember their idolized coach after his sudden
passing. The guys realize how much they've grown and also how little.
All adults now with families, life has changed for the group of men, and
throughout the film, these life changes are realized and reflected,
prompting some massive changes to the lives they lead.
Filled
with sharp tongued jokes and outrageous crude humor I felt that this
film should have provided a lot more. With a cast like this, the film
should have really knocked my socks off, but instead I left the theater
wanting more and maybe that was asking too much. Although funny and
tender at times I wasn't that much impressed, but that's not to say that
I wouldn't see it again.
Review: The A-team
06-22-2010 WeirdestRobkast
So the remake of the 80's Television
show The A-Team delivered action, betrayal, and comedic punch
lines, similar to the format that brought fame and notoriety to the
series. The casting for this 2010 remake was superb, I don't think a
better group of guys could have been assembled any better. The film is
about a group of Army Rangers who are a special unit, this unit goes on
all types of suicide missions that involve heavy gun fire and tons of
explosions, risking their life for their country is what motivates them.
But being betrayed by their fellow rangers and setup for a crime they
did not commit, this team must escape from captivity and race against
time to clear their names.
A film starring Liam Nesson, Bradley
Cooper, Rampage Jackson, Jessica Biel, and Patrick Wilson is sure to get
anyone's attention, not to mention two cameos by two of the original
cast members made this film very entertaining and enjoyable. Definitely
fun for all, I recommend this film, it honors the tradition of the
television series.
Review: The Karate Kid
06-16-2010 WeirdestRobkast
Hello lifestyleunrated fans, this
week's movie review is of the newly released version of The Karate
Kid, starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. This remake of an 80's
classic was excellent and I may be hurt by saying this but it was also
better than the original. Jaden Smith attacked this role better than I
could have expected, and performed so genuine and naturally that he made
you believe he was a Kung Fu master. At the tender age of 11 Smith
personifies all the characteristics of his father Will Smith and mother
Jada Pinkett Smith. And with the number one movie in America now on his
resume, Smith is poised for a brilliant career.
I enjoyed the
acting, action, and story associated with this movie, and I recommended
it to all. I've already seen this film with my mother and 15 year old
sister, and just yesterday seen it with my girlfriend, its fun for the
entire family.

Preview: Mystery Team
05-18-2010 WeirdestRobkast Today I came across an interesting film
set to come out August 28, 2010, and it's called Mystery Team, it
looks like something never seen before in wide release. It has the feel
of an independent film mixed with a film noir. Seems like Hollywood may
yet be open minded to new things. The film stars a bunch of newcomers
to the screen and it's about three childhood friends who always wanted
to be detectives. Ten years later they still wanna be detectives and
actually are hired to find out about the death of a little girls family.

he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him

lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece
together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly
limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling
oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race
against time - fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90
minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.
Set

Review: Ironman 2
5-8-2010 WeirdestRobkast The lifestyleunrated.com movie review of the
week is Ironman 2, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow,
Don Cheadle, and Jon Favreau. This time around our Billionaire
superhero, Tony Stark is under pressure from the United States
government to turn over the Ironman suit, and this conflict has caused a
rife between Tony and his best friend James Rhodes. Also lurking in the
dark is a rival department of defense contractor who has made attempts
at creating his own super suit so that the government can have similar
technology in order to fight crime. And when you think that's all, a
fellow scientist with a dark past emerges and tries to destroy the Stark
legacy, just like what he believes the Starks' did to his family. With
all these problems going on Tony also has to deal with the fact that the
arc reactor in his chest is slowly killing him. That's alot for one man
to deal with, no matter how powerful he may be.
Spoiler
Alert: There are a few notable scenes in this film and a couple of
great references for upcoming Marvel superhero movies. Be on the lookout
for the Captain America shield 3/4 of the way through the film and stay
around after the credits and see the Hammer of Thor. These scenes of
reference are directly related to the upcoming Avengers movies.

Review: Death At A Funeral
4-23-2010 WeirdestRobkast Today's movie review is of the hilarious
comedy "Death at a Funeral", starring Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence,
Tracey Morgan, Danny Glover, Zoe Saldana, Regina Hall, and the names
continue to go on and on. The film is about the death of a family
patriach, the father of Rock and Lawrence, a man whom many people in the
family admired and loved. The gathering of family, friends, and in laws
make this funeral one to remember. With its multiple story plots and
bust your gut laughs, this film is sure to satisfy. With as much talent
and big names in this film, i'd have to say that the performance of
Tracey Morgan is worth the price of admission.
Review: Date Night
4-14-2010 WeirdestRobkast Hello Lifestyleunrated.com viewers this is
The WeirdestRobkast here to bring you the review for the movie"Date
Night", starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell. Back some time ago we
previewed this film and now I am set to review it just for your
pleasure. The movie is a about a married couple who live boring lives
and have very little excitement in them, sparked by the news of their
good friends getting divorced our two main characters decide to spice up
their lives and have an interesting date night, by trying to goto one
of Manhattans most popular restaurant without a reservation, but when
they arrive there are no spots. So Carell decides to take the
reservation of another couple who has decided not to show up, and all
hell ensues from then on, as a case of mistaken identities gets this
couple sought after by some ruthless killers who think they are the
couple whose reservation they just stole. Now determined to uncover the
reason why they are being pursued and to try to clear their name, our
couple must become detectives and stay alive long enough to unfold the
plot behind their warrant.
Overall I would say that the plot,
storyline, acting, guest appearances, and action sequences made this
film fun and enjoyable, Carell and Fey are a wonderful tandem and are
very believable as a married couple. They seem to have a knack for
picking good film roles and they always deliver. The theater was packed
opening night and I believe the film won the weekend box office,
rightfully so. This film is recommended highly by Lifestyleunrated, so
go check it out.
Review: Black Dynamite
4-08-2010 WeirdestRobkast This week's movie review is of the comedy "Black
Dynamite", starring Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Sally
Richardson-Whitfield, and many more. This throwback to 70's
blaxploitation films with a comedic twist, is about a retired CIA agent
by the name of Black Dynamite, whose brother is killed by "The Man", so
Dynamite sets out on a quest to shake up the city and get some answers
for the death of his kin.
The films plot and sub plot are very
cliche and unoriginal but this film delivers in so many ways that it
makes you say, "who cares". From start to finish I was laughing and
crying due to the sheer stupidity of the screenplay. Not to mention the
effects and cinematography being made to look so low budget, it actually
helped get that 70's feel. White did an excellent job portraying the
ultimate ladies man and ultimate fighting machine, all while delivering
perfectly timed punch lines and body gestures. I gave this movie a 5
star review, and I encourage you to see this film, you won't be
disappointed.
Review: Why Did I Get Married Too?
4-06-2010 WeirdestRobkast This week's movie review is of the sequel
"Why Did I Get Married Too",
starring Tyler Perry,
Malik Yoba, Janet Jackson,
Tasha Smith,
and others. This follow up to the highly successful original, started
with great comedy, passion, and tons of funny stereotypes, but ended
with high
drama, stupid clichés, and a retarded ending. A movie asking why did I
get married, should end answering that question, but this one didn't,
but I was glad it ended.
I was a fan of the first "Why Did I Get
Married" and was very skeptical of the sequel, and I truly thought
halfway through the film I would be proven wrong, and then Tyler Perry
came
to my rescue and completely screwed the movie for me. Cliche after
cliche after cliche, ruined things for me. Not to mention the rapid
ending of the film, where you are left clue less to what the 2 hours of
film you just watched actually meant. Didn't like it, and will not
recommend it.
Review: Clash Of The Titans
4-05-2010 WeirdestRobkast This week's movie review is that of the
newly released remake of the 80's classic "Clash of The Titans". This
new film stars Sam Worthington(Avatar), Liam Neeson(Taken),
and Ralph Fiennes(In Bruges), as Greek Gods Perseus, Zeus, and
Hades. Like the original this film follows the same storyline, Man grows
tired of the Gods and wage war against them by not acknowledging them,
so the Gods, will send the Kraken to unleash hell and bring upon the end
of man, unless they show their faith and prayers toward the Gods. But
man has the Demigod Perseus on their side, and that's all that is
needed.
This film much like the original had a stupid plot and
even worse acting but the effects of both this and the original have
always been the draw, the mechanical owl, and the cartoonish costumes,
makeup, along with the Kraken, have made this film successful. However I
did not like the movie this time, I guess too much went into the 3D
effects it took away from so much other things. This film might be
better suited for Blu-Ray in 3D but I wouldn't spend money in the
theaters to see it again.
Review: The Crazies
3-26-2010 WeirdestRobkast Lifestyle Unrated brings you the movie review of "The Crazies", which shoulda been
callled the cornies because that's exactly what this film was. It starred
one of my personal favorite actors Timothy
Olyphant, better known for his work on the HBO series Deadwood and films such as Hitman, Live Free or Die Hard, and The Getaway. It was tragic that not even my affection
for his work could allow me to appreciate this horrible attempt at a
horror/suspense film. Also starring Radha Mitchell and Danielle
Panabaker, as the two leading ladies of the film, the movie didn't
demand what the hype behind the preview offered. I went into the
theaters hoping to see insanely crazy people murdering and slaughtering
beyond anything I ever saw, but what I got was a film about a government
virus that got into the water supply of a small town and turn the
people into virus infected sicko's who lost all capabilities of judging
good from bad. The real crazies of the movie had to be the government
and its agents, who were sent to this town to quarantine the threat and
destroy all the infected, by any means necessary.
I didn't like this film and I would not suggest going to the movies to see
it. I'd probably not even rent it on Blu-Ray because then it'll be the
clearest piece of garbage I see, lol. Anyway that's your movie review of "The Crazies".
Review: Repo Men
3-23-2010 WeirdestRobkast This week's movie review is of the sci-fi action flick "Repo Men", starring Jude Law and
Forest Whitaker. The film is about Law and Whitaker; buddies since
childhood, who happen to work together as Repossession men, who work for
this company called "The Union", which creates artificial organs and
sells them at an extreme price, but what price could you put on your
life? This is a question that we must ask ourselves when we need a Liver
and can't make the payments, or need a Kidney, Heart, or Lung. So it is
Law and Whitaker's task to collect that organ when you can't pay for
it.
After years of doing this job it starts to take its toll on Law, and he
wants out, but his old buddy Whitaker doesn't like the thought of doing
this job without him. No need to worry because a freak accident at work,
leaves law near death, unless he gets a new heart, and a new heart is
what the "Union" provides. Now stuck with the task of needed to continue
to work to pay for his heart, Law realizes that he is not cut out for
this life any longer and his conscience starts to get the better of him.
But he knows that if he can't pay for the heart, the "Union" will send
someone to repossess.
Overall I liked the theme of the movie, if their was one. Law as an
action star not so much. Whitaker as a ruthless repo man, loved it. And
all the other actors and actresses in this film, didn't really pay
attention to them, but overall, a fun movie.
Review: The Descent 2
3-22-2010 WeirdestRobkast This week's movie review is of the film "The
Descent 2", the follow up to the surprising smash original which
came out in 2005, about a group of women who go cave exploring in the
Appalachian mountains, in search of discovering a new cave system. The
original saw our lead lady Sarah survive the horrors that claimed the
lives of her friends, as she narrowly escaped. In the beginning of this
film Sarah is rescued and under questioning by the local police due to
the fact that she was the only member to survive the expedition. Forced
to go back down into the caves of horror with a search party of 5(two
cops and three cave explorers) Sarah is put back into the life altering
terror that she had just survived.
This film was about as good as
the original, the idea of deep dark, scary caves, and creatures who
feed on meat, who are hunting those who enter the cave, sounds
frightening. It was too, this film made me jump twice and had me looking
for the exits quick!! If you liked the original then the sequel is a
must. Good story, good action, good suspense, even better
cinematography.
Review: From Paris With Love
3-20-2010 Weirdest Robkast This week's movie review of the flick "From
Paris With Love' pairs up John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys
Meyers, as two United States spies, on a mission to thwart
terrorism in Paris. Meyers plays James Reese an aide to the U.S.
Ambassador in France, but his second job is as a United States entry
level spy, whose dream is to make it to the big leagues and become a
full time secret agent. Recently offered the opportunity to be paired
with one of America's best spy Charlie Wax played by Travolta, Reese
jumps at the chance to work with him and gain his stripes. Once the two
are together there is an instantaneous connection and fellowship formed.
Wax's methods may be unorthodox, but are very effective and along with
Reese's help they go on a mission to uncover a terrorist plot going down
in France.
Now from the description and the title of this film I
was very skeptical, but I put my feelings aside and decided to engage
into this film and I was rather impressed with the wit, and sarcasm, and
comedic approach taken to deliver this film to the audience. Travolta
as this bad ass spy with assassin precise aim and Commando like ability
to take out 20 guys at once, I thought was very entertaining. Meyers
added that square school boy mentality with a bit of naivety and
passion, which made his character believable and likeable. Overall I'd
say this film was fun and entertaining, definitely a must see action
film.
