04-21-2009 Weirdest Robkast Ladies and Gents welcome back to LifestyleUnrated, this week we will be reviewing Seth Rogen's (Funny People) latest piece of work Observe & Report.
Rogen has been very busy these last few years ripping Hollywood up with
his comedies and he is becoming the new go to guy for comedy in
Hollywood.
At the Forest Ridge Mall, head of security
Ronnie Barnhardt played by Rogen patrols his jurisdiction with an iron fist, combating
skateboarders, shoplifters and the occasional unruly customer while
dreaming of the day when he can swap his flashlight for a badge and a
gun. His delusions of grandeur are put to the test when the mall is
struck by a flasher. Driven to protect and serve the mall and its
patrons, Ronnie seizes the opportunity to showcase his under-appreciated
law enforcement talents on a grand scale, hoping his solution of this
crime will earn a coveted spot at the police academy and the heart of
his elusive dream girl Brandi played by Anna Faris(Scary Movie), the hot make-up counter clerk who won't
give him the time of day. But his single-minded pursuit of glory
launches a turf war with the equally competitive Detective Harrison played by Ray Liotta (Smokin Aces) of
the Conway Police, and Ronnie is confronted with the challenge of not
only catching the flasher, but getting him before the real cops do.
I
enjoyed this movie for a number of reasons, Rogen is a comedic genius
and I truly believe that this guy will never get corny or boring, no
matter if he does tend to play the same character in all his movies.
The crude humor effect seems to work really well for Rogen as his movie
incorporate this formula frequently. I can see Hollywood continuing to
include more crude humor into a lot of their movies in the future
because of this guy, because it works and who doesn't like to laugh at
gross things. Another reason I liked this movie was because of the
plot, there was a serial flasher running around the mall flashing and
taunting people. How weird and funny does that sound?
